Our Counselling Guidelines & Policies

Our Counselling Guidelines & Policies

Confidentiality:

  • Everything shared with your therapist during the course of therapy will be kept confidential. However, confidentiality may be breached if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, in accordance with safety protocols. Additionally, therapists undergo supervision where the therapy process may be discussed to enhance treatment effectiveness.

Informed Consent:

  • Clients have the right to be fully informed about the therapy process, including the therapist's qualifications, the methods used, potential risks, benefits, and alternatives.

Right to Refuse and Terminate:

  • Clients can refuse any treatment or intervention they are uncomfortable with and may withdraw from therapy at any time. Discontinuation or termination of therapy is done on mutual understanding, and a closure session or phone call can be arranged to facilitate the closing process

Access to Records:

  • Clients have the right to access their therapy records, though this is subject to certain legal and clinical considerations.

Clear Communication:

  • Clients are entitled to clear and open communication with their therapist, including details about session fees, scheduling, and treatment goals. The therapeutic relationship is professional, and contact outside sessions is limited to organizational channels

Commitment to the Process:

  • Clients are responsible for attending scheduled sessions regularly. Sessions are pre-booked, and the same slot is reserved weekly unless otherwise requested.

Payment:

  • Clients are responsible for understanding and fulfilling their financial obligations. Payments for in-person sessions can be made before or after the session, either in cash or via online transfer. Online sessions require advance payment, after which the session link will be provided. International clients can use PayFast, with a 4.2% service charge applicable.

Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy:

  • Clients are expected to communicate any cancellations or rescheduling requests 24 hours prior to their session. Same-day cancellations or rescheduling are considered paid cancellations, with fees equivalent to the session cost

Respecting Boundaries:

  • Clients must respect the professional boundaries of the therapeutic relationship. Contact between sessions is limited to organisational contacts, and therapists will not engage in social interactions outside of therapy unless mutually agreed upon.

Counseling Guidelines & Policies:

  • Clients are reminded of the importance of adhering to the counseling guidelines, such as session reminders, pre-booking of sessions, and the use of provided communication channels.
